My name is BigJim and I am the Owner/Webmaster/Curator of Skynyrd.com. I am the original owner of this domain name.
I purchased Skynyrd.com in 1996, living in Jacksonville, FL at the time and working on a new website for a non-profit organization that we were starting up. When I registered Skynyrd.com, LynyrdSkynyrd.com was also still available. In other words, the band didn’t have a website yet.
It was a long time ago, on a whole different internet.
What Is Skynyrd.com
Skynyrd.com is about finding, sharing, and enjoying good music.
Being a musician most of my life, I enjoy finding new music, discovering old music that I didn’t know about, and re-experiencing music all these years later. Some of it will be directly related to Lynyrd Skynyrd or Southern Rock. You’ll find those posts at the top of the Home page.
I have also created a section of the site dedicated to videos about the Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash. This is still, over 45 years later, a very much discussed topic. There are a lot of videos that have been available for awhile, but have not been viewed a lot. There are still new videos being released all the time. People are still talking about the plane crash, analyzing it, and providing new opinions.
I have a wide variety of musical interests outside of Southern Rock and Classic Rock. And I suspect that a lot of Skynyrd fans do too. I know, from my time in Jacksonville, FL, and within the sphere of most of the biggest bands in Southern Rock, that even Ronnie VanZant has musical interests outside of these two genres. These included, among others I’m sure, blues and country music. (His favorite singer was Merle Haggard.)
I use this website to feature some of my various musical interest in a section I have just entitled Outside. This section features videos and genres that fall “outside” Southern and Classic Rock. (Makes sense, right?)

I create all of the content on each post, with the exception of any quotes, from research, my acquired knowledge, and opinion.
